The fun factor
1. Hop On the Trams
Attention tram enthusiasts! The Zurich Tram Museum is a must-visit for you. It's an interactive spot where kids can have a blast climbing on and riding real trams from 1897 to 1960. Our 4-year-old had a great time getting on and off the trams—it's like a huge tram playground!
2. Become a Tram Operator
They even have a small tram that kids can operate by spinning a handle, making it go back and forth. For us it was a fantastic chance to take a half-hour coffee break while watching our toddler enjoy the fun.
3. Explore and Play
The museum has various play areas too. We were excited to find one with model trams for kids to play with, complete with chairs for parents to relax. There's also a giant puzzle for kids to tackle, a fussball table and a tram conductor hat to try out and pretend play. Lots of interactive fun for everyone!
4. Go underground
Our toddler enjoyed the underground exploration. With a blue helmet on, you can descend in a trench to see the tram from the underneath—a treat for both young and old engineers. It might be a simple activity, but with a bit of storytelling, it becomes a fantastic adventure for little tram explorers.
5. Uncover Tram Treasures
Upstairs, there's a neat display featuring ticket machines, a working model layout of trams, a rolling Baby Cobra, a piano which plays different sounds that trams normally do, and much more. With trams that can be stopped and started using a knob, this section also provides interactive fun for kids.
